The Season has begun. One game in the bag.

Last Sunday marked the opening of the 2004-2005 season of the Richmond Senior Soccer League. Our opening game was against familiar rivals, Fairview Auto.

When I say familiar, this is due to both our encounters last season to be fairly intense. So intense that tempers flared and fisticuffs almost occurred. Not that either team played cheap, but, merely a result of both teams playing very hard in order to garner a victory. However, unlike some other teams in our division, they kept all hostilities on the field. So when the game ended, that was it and they were actually nice guys. Hence, earning a little respect in our eyes. Each encounter so far resulting in a draw.

On this occasion, like in previous ones, was hard fought. We gained the early lead and were able maintain the score of 2-0 till half. In the second half, Fairview Auto was able to tie it up. However, we were able to regain our composure and regained the lead. When the final whistle blew the score was 4-2 for DSBH.

The DSBH scorers for the game were:

Inderjitt (2)
Eddie (1)
Elliot (1)

Dan was stellar in net. Even with a hangover, he was still able to see the ball clearly and navigate where it would go.

The majority of the game was altercation free. That was until late in the second half when one of Fairview's defensemen took offense to one of our forward's actions. The situation was diffused by our forward taking the high road and the defenseman promptly receiving a red card.

In other news, it is nice to hear that former DSBH forward Chris Newitt was on the scoreleaders' board for his new club, the Rangers. If there's one man that deserves to be rewarded for his hard work and effort, it's him.

Next game will be this Sunday at 11am versus new club Fury. They currently reside at #1, while we reside at #2 in the standings of Division 2. This should prove to be a good match.

Go DSBH, Yeowwwwww . . .
